Local Mission Opportunities

For many years, Westminster Baptist Church, under the leadership of Mary Reeb and other volunteers, has maintained a food pantry, available to community members in need of non-perishables. Many have been blessed by this cares ministry. In recent years, local partners across the county, including Shepherd’s Staff and Westminster Rescue Mission, have developed a robust distribution of food, including non-perishable foods, perishables such as meat, milk, and eggs, and even hot meals. This has caused our food pantry to be used less and less frequently. Therefore, going forward, WBC will no longer maintain an onsite food pantry.

This does not mean that members should no longer give of their abundance (Psalm 82:3-4).  Instead, our Cares and Local Ministries will encourage groups and individuals to give non-perishables to the Mission Food Program at Westminster Rescue Mission.

The Westminster Rescue Mission depends on volunteers to organize and participate in local food distribution; please volunteer if God has gifted you in this area! You may volunteer individually or as a group. You may find information on volunteering HERE.

Please download the guide to better understand the donation procedures, foods needed and additional volunteering information.

WBC will continue to partner with Friendship Valley Elementary to collect a specific list of food items throughout the fall months each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.

The WBC Cares ministry will also give groceries or grocery gift cards on a case-by-case basis as needed for emergency situations.
